Garage Journal – First Entry
May 18, 2026 – Morning light spilling across the workbench
Hey y’all,
Welcome to the Garage Journal.
I’m Tess, and this spot right here is where I sit with a cold cup of coffee, grease still under my nails, and just… talk. Not the polished “here’s how to do it” stuff. Not the highlight reel. Just real talk from a Kentucky farm girl who grew up turning wrenches with her dad and learning that cars, like people, don’t always do what you expect them to.
Some mornings the ‘55 fires right up and purrs like a happy cat. Other mornings she’s stubborn, coughing and spitting, reminding me that everything worth keeping needs a little patience and a lot of love. That’s what this journal is gonna be — the in-between moments. The small wins, the lessons that stung, the dumb mistakes that still make me laugh, and the quiet satisfaction of standing back and saying “yeah… we built that.”
If you’re here, you’re probably staring at your own project right now wondering where to even start. I’ve been there. Hell, I still land there more days than not. So pull up a stool. Grab a cold drink. We’ll figure it out together, one bolt at a time.
This is home. This is the garage. And you’re part of the tribe now.
See you in the next entry,
Tess
